Legal Opinion: CMS Announces New Payment Model for Ambulance Transportation for Patients with Urgent Needs

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has launched a new payment model for emergency ambulance services that allows Medicare fee-for-service (FFS) beneficiaries to receive the most appropriate level of care when they have urgent needs. The new model, called Emergency Triage, Treat and Transport (ET3) will kick in when patients have medical emergencies for which they have dialed 911 services.
